Our Program Directors
Mark
Miller
Chief Executive Officer
"Over
the years, we have seen amazing things happen
in the lives of the people we serve here at Advent."
Mark Miller began working in
one of Advent's group homes for abused and neglected
boys in the early 1970's, after graduating from
college with a degree in Sociology (see Our
History). He grew to love the kids in his
care and developed a passion for improving the
lives of these badly abused youngsters. In the
late 1970's, Mark began taking classes in the
evening in order to obtain his Masters Degree
in Counseling Psychology. During this time, he
became intrigued by the treatment possibilities
available when Christian faith is combined with
the very best in therapeutic strategies. With
this in mind, he began the development of entirely
new programs at Advent - recovery programs specifically
for drug and alcohol addicted youth, a foster
care program and a low-cost counseling center
for families in need.
Mark and his wife, Jane,
an antiques dealer, are long time members of Morgan
Hill Presbyterian Church, where Mark has served
several terms as Elder. He has two grown children,
who currently live in Southern California and
Kiev, Ukraine, two young grandchildren, and another grandchild on the way. He enjoys
woodworking, fly-fishing, racquetball and attending
a local men's Bible study that he has been going
to since 1985.
