"Troubled and abused" best describes our general clientele, though many other conditions may exist. Individuals who are hurting, ostracized, unable to cope, battered or broken, overwhelmed, dysfunctional, needing fresh insights and healthy ways to relate--Advent exists for all of them.
Currently, adults are served primarily through the counseling center, while youth receive the services not only of the counseling center, but of the professional programs as well. In the future, we may develop additional programs which would meet the needs of people of either age group.
Christian love is the highest calling of any individual, and is the core of the treatment at Advent. From this principle, we develop our treatment plans designed to help people in the most meaningful way. Scriptural principles will be our standard for understanding both human need and effective intervention. We believe that any intervention, whether it be sharing the gospel, providing professional therapeutic efforts, or simply offering "cups of cold water" in the most mundane way, will gain its true effectiveness within an attitude of Christian love.
Given all of the above, the nature of our therapeutic services will be with the framework of mental health or social services. Though currently limited to counseling services, foster homes, and residential treatment, we will remain open to developing other services as the need, resources, and calling direct.
